What an amazing weekend we had this November. The women’s day on Saturday was great in itself… then Sunday happened. Chad Dedmon came to speak at St Barnabas. I was overwhelmed to see God’s power at work as Chad prayed for healing in the 9.30 service on Sunday morning. He talked about the many miracles of healing he has seen, and as he prayed for people with unequal leg lengths and I saw their legs growing with my own eyes, I was blown away. I didn’t want to leave – but I was determined to come back that evening.

When I got home I could not concentrate on anything except praying and asking God who to ring and invite to the evening service! Jesus said that if you have something good, give it back by sharing with others – I think this is true of money, time, love and so on. I had definitely seen something special. It was as if the ‘healing waters’ had been stirred at our church and I wanted everyone who needed healing to come and dip into it.

I remembered Chad offering to pray for people with cancer and that morning my friend had mentioned that her pastor had terminal cancer. I rang her, inviting him to come, but he was too tired. Then I rang my sister. My sister’s granddaughter, Angelie, had to have her leg amputated below the knee due to some complications at birth. At first Angelie’s mum was reluctant to come as she was going to a party, but I think a discussion with my sister must have changed her mind. My sister is a Hindu but she knows what I think about Jesus as I am always talking to her about him. She knew all about the healings and miracles that happened at Lakeland, Florida, as well. In any case, they rang back to say they were coming. I rang many other friends and family but no one else was interested.

I was full of joy and expectation when I took my Hindu family to church that evening. Everyone I spoke to at church was rather taken aback when I told them I was asking God for a ‘creative miracle’ (e.g. when a missing limb or body part ‘grows back’ through prayer)! I prayed with the prayer ministry team and asked God for a new leg for Angelie and also that he would reveal himself to my sister and her family.

Chad started to speak, and as my family heard his jaw-dropping stories of miracles they were truly amazed and touched. I was glad that he told a couple of stories of Hindus getting healed, including one woman who also decided to follow Jesus as a result.

After the talk Chad called my sister forward, in front of everyone there, because God had told him that she had problems with her knees. He prayed for her and hugged her warmly. Afterwards she told me that she had felt the power of God all over her. And her knees were healed! She came back to her seat and told me, ‘I’ve just met Jesus.’ Amelie was prayed for and though she did not get the healing I had hoped for, I was glad that she had come and witnessed God answering prayer there and then. And when my nephew asked for prayer he was healed of a leg injury!

They all went away in total shock. They saw, heard about and felt the power of a living God. Now, a few days later, my sister is still in shock. They are all overwhelmed and so am I! God did not give Angelie a new leg, but he did not turn us away empty handed either. For me it was the greatest gift ever to see my sister and family touched by him. I have given my sister a Gujarati Bible and other bits and pieces to start her off on her journey with the Lord. I firmly believe that what God has started in her life, he will bring to completion and through her, her children and their families will also come to know the Lord one day.
