Recession - and revival
There’s so much talk of recession in the press. It's all gloom and doom. Something my husband said last Sunday stuck with me though. He stated, ‘God is not in recession!’
In fact as I reflect on it, I would say that God is positively on the move and the church is moving into revival! What brings me to say that? I have seen so many signs of the supernatural recently, that I can hardly keep myself from jumping up and down in excitement!
Let's see... there’s the gold tooth that has suddenly appeared in the mouth of a pastor’s wife near here. I talked to her daughter’s fiancé this evening who happens to be one of our worship leaders and he’s seen it. She had lost a filling and was about to go to the dentist to have it repaired when she showed her daughter the ‘hole’ and was told that it had gold in it! When she went to the dentist the records showed that it had only had silver amalgam in it before.
Then there’s Beth’s leg. Beth is a doctor in our church, who had one leg an inch and a half longer than the other. She had actually had it measured this summer at the surgery. Two weeks ago a visiting speaker (Chad Dedmon) at church prayed for her and it grew! This week she went back to the doctor for a visit with her baby, and asked for another leg measurement, ‘because someone at my church prayed and God grew my leg, but I don’t want to get up there and tell the story if it's gone back again. I’m a scientist after all!’ Lo and behold, her leg bones are now exactly the same length, according to her doctor!
Then there was the woman whom we met earlier this summer at our weekly ‘Hungry for God' nights’. Her eyes had been clouding over and she had been told that she was going blind and there was not much that could be done. Over the course of two evenings at the summer New Wine event God restored her sight and she now has 20/20 vision and doesn’t even need the glasses she invested in! She came back to church to tell us this week.
All these and more are signs that God is very much alive on planet Earth and doing good. I wonder how you would react to it all? It's really galvanised some here into action! If God is so good and powerful then people need to know about it. So a couple of our church members have been telling the locals at the pub all about it and Jesus is the talk of the bar. He has already healed the barman’s wrist and a man’s back and now they have booked an evening next week to hold a Christian healing evening there with the publican’s full approval.
I’ll let you know later how it goes!
