Growing pains

There's a new story under 'inner healing' - read about Georgie's recent answer to prayer as she tried to put an unpleasant childhood experience to rest.

I wonder how you react to stories like this. Some people might dismiss it as endlessly raking over the past instead of 'moving on' and living in the present. All I know is that God himself seems to leave no stone unturned in dealing with my inner weaknesses, fears and faults, including painful memories. This made more sense to me recently when I read that emotional wholeness and spiritual maturity can't be separated from each other - God intends to save us completely, body, soul and spirit.

I think another way of looking at the process everyone goes through as they follow Christ is simply growing up, leaving our immaturity behind. We talk a lot about coming to God as little children, but he's leading us into adulthood - he's shaping us into rulers, judges, leaders. Which, frankly, I find terrifying - and that's more proof of my own immaturity!

Anyway - I hope more of us can follow Georgie's example and let God free us of childhood traumas. One way to help which I've heard good things about is the Mary Pytches course, 'Road to Maturity', but there are loads more good things out there - like having an honest talk with God, for instance...
