Christian - at a cost
Please don't miss out on the latest new story! When a newcomer to the Thursday Women's group mentioned that she was from a Hindu background, I was itching to hear more. Sita kindly agreed to share that more with us.
Sita comes across as cheerful, warm and passionate about God. It's hard to imagine the struggle she's had with rejection from her community because she chose to publicly follow Christ.
What shines out from her story is - and it's true of all the stories under 'Journeys to God' - that she had no patience for any religious unreality and hypocricy around her, and when she caught a whiff of a God who is real (possibly in the last place she'd expect) she decided to get hold of him, regardless of the consequences.
That challenges me. I also wonder if I'd have been as willing as Sita's English friend Abbi to talk to her about Christ. How many of us, casually carrying around the gift of eternal life, look for chances to pass it on to people like Sita, who are visiting from cultures where they are unlikely to hear the gospel? Especially if you live in a melting-pot city like London - look around you at work, or wherever, and ask God to help you do what Abbi did for Sita.
